the Stand Tall Sydney Summer camps

Our ‘Stand Tall Summer Camp’ is a life-changing, live-in 5-day coastal camp in Chowder Bay on Sydney Harbour, where young people who may be going through challenging times can relax and have fun in a safe and nurturing environment. The camp includes activities such as swimming, snorkelling and basketball.

They hear from a range of speakers who provide some encouraging and challenging sessions and messages to build a framework of hope and encouragement for all involved. It provides the young people with an environment in which they are able to develop new friendships and where they can be supported by positive adult mentors and role models.

Stand Tall thanks Coles and Manly Rotary for their annual visits to the camp to provide meals and inspire the teenagers.

How Does the Camp work?

Each year teachers or parents nominate teenagers from Years 9 to 11 to attend the Stand Tall Summer Camp in Chowder Bay Sydney. Nominations are generally for those students who are living through especially challenging circumstances.

It is a FULLY SPONSORED five day camp, made possible by the support of the many sponsoring organisations.

STAND TALL ARE NOT CURRENTLY TAKING EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST.

“I would like to thank the Stand Tall organisation for the amazing opportunity that was given to my son to attend the camp in Jan 2020 in Sydney.

My son had had a pretty taxing year in 2019, and at times expressed that he wondered if life was worth it, as a mum hearing this broke my heart as he has always been a kid that cared about others and always tried to look out for kids that had been on the receiving end of bullying.

He too had been on the end of bullying and this had taken a toll on him, so the camp was an opportunity for him to know he was not the only kid going through it.

At the end of the camp I picked him up from the train and the kid that I dropped off and picked up was indeed a totally different kid. He was still fundamentally the same good natured kid but his outlook had changed. I have never heard a kid so at peace with how he is and what he stands for. The camp was a life changing week for him.

He has found an inner confidence that he is now happy to express and has such a positive outlook on life as hope had returned to my son. He wants to stay involved with the Stand Tall organisation as it has changed so many things for him.

I would absolutely encourage every parent with a teenager to become involved with Stand Tall as the results are life changing for the kids and I truly cannot thank you all enough for giving me back a young man full of hope, confidence and smiles as you have not seen. My endless gratitude.”
