Our summer session in Chowder Bay

2 February 2020
As 2020 comes thundering in with new goals to kick and new journeys tackle, I find myself at the beginning of an exciting new start; I am convinced that this will be the year for growth and change, not just for myself, but for many others too. Hopefully that includes you!
A thought that I still grapple with as I stand here at the start line, is one of worth.
Am I worthy of the things I want in 2020 and on? Knowing my past and the things I come from, do I deserve a fresh, healthy and happy start?
Do you ever feel like that? Like your right to a better life, a new future is inhibited by your past?
Well I’m here to say that YOU ARE ALWAYS WORTH IT.
Everybody needs a little reminding of is the fact, that they are not only capable of change in their life, but worthy of it. The goals that you set for this year need to reflect that. They need to be bold and be brave, just like you, for setting them and working hard towards them.
Over the summer break I had the privilege of attending the Annual Summer camp run by Stand Tall. Imagine this, 23 amazing students, 20 Leaders, surfing, swimming, games and food… A lot of food. No better way to start the year hey? Although this camp might sound just like another week away, it was a time of important growth, facing fears, making friends and mastering challenges.
The start of the camp was a lot like the start of the new year, lots of new faces, awkward hugs and many fears to be faced. As the campers started showing up, I realised that the majority of them weren’t just scared of the foreign surroundings, but more scared of the challenges they might face both physically and emotionally. They were scared of rejection, scared that the others might not find them worthy and not accept them. I know exactly what that feels like and that fear can be crippling.
As a leader, I came along to help support, motivate and entertain the campers. By my side we had a plethora of amazing speakers, who spoke about their journey and the struggles they themselves had. One thing that came across LOUD and CLEAR from all the speakers was: KNOW YOUR WORTH…
I know change is intimidating and scary, and I know how self-doubt can be your own worst enemy. But hear this, now is the time to be brave, be bold and do it for yourself, because you are enough and you are worth it.
You are WORTHY
Worth knowing.
Worth listening to.
Worth loving.
Your value doesn’t decrease because of someone else’s inability to see your worth.
So, line up for 2020, with your dreams in one hand and goals in the other- and tackle this new year head on;
